Pendleton and Grant County Development Authorities announce Joint Development Authority Name and Details.

July 27, 2023 - The Pendleton County Economic and Community Development Authority and the Grant County Development Authority have partnered together to form a new regional joint economic development authority. This new regional development authority will represent both counties in the pursuit and recruitment of new businesses and economic development opportunities to the region.

The new authority will be called the Seneca Rocks Regional Development Authority capitalizing on the name recognition of one of the most iconic locations in West Virginia. “There is no more recognizable location in West Virginia than Seneca Rocks”, says Dayne Davis, chairman of the Pendleton County Economic and Community Development Authority. “It speaks to our scenic beauty and endless outdoor recreation opportunities in both counties.”

A new regional board of directors will be appointed to oversee the operations of the regional development authority. Each county commission will appoint seven board members each. The current board of directors of both county authorities will remain in place for the next year to ensure a smooth transition of current projects and opportunities to the new regional authority.

“We are being strategic and intentional in this transition”, says Jay Mongold, president of the Grant County Development Authority. “We are committed to making sure that we maximize every existing and future opportunity to bring positive development opportunities to both counties.”

Laura Brown is the executive director of the new regional joint development authority. She is joined by two administrative staff members: Sherry Mongold and Sherri Arbogast.
